    Hi,
I am learner driver. Today i was going through walkinstown roundabout from Naas road towards Dundrum (third exit between 12 and 1 o clock). I approached in the middle lane indicating right and exited by indicating left just after 2nd exit.
As soon as I entered roundabout, car behind me honked!

Is this right way? how to use a 3lane roundabout and is it correct to indicate right for any exit after 12o clock (even slightly).

For those of us that do not know the roundabout personally, your going to have to draw us a diagram.

Going by memory, you would probably be better in the left lane. The exit is just at 12 o'clock. Their is no need to indicate right, just indicate left after the second exit. I would use the middle lane for the 4th exit towards Belgard, and the right lane for 5th Ballymount exit from that kylemore road direction.

Might help clear up a few things. One thing to remember is that road markings have precedence over the clock system.

I have driven this way a few times and normally enter in the middle lane no indicator and then indicate left after the 2nd exit never had any issues. It is a terrible roundabout to navigate and there are no road markings to tell what lane you should be in.

Looking at this from another perspective; If the car was behind you and honking. It may have been because you got in there way when they had priority.

Or else the other driver has less knowledge than the OP.

At least the OP is trying to find out if they made a mistake, most drivers don't as they are always right. Just look at the amount that use the wrong lane coming from the M50 to Dundrum shopping centre.

The walkinstown roundabout is a disaster for everyone that uses it. I wouldn't rely on experiences here to better understand roundabouts. I went through it twice in the last week and it really is just a case of every man for himself, I saw little regard for the rules of the road, and just got through it as best I could when I went through it.

Seriously it is a complete disaster.

It was even worse when the chap in the house was still living in the middle of it.

No, he was following me, so definitely no priority for him.
All, thanks for your replies. There seems to be no definite answer.

Ok, I will put it differently - can I enter middle lane with right indicator?

It's probably the most difficult roundabout in the state so I wouldn't get too worked up about it. Those of us who have been driving for years still approach it with caution because, no matter how well you observe the rules, many other drivers are just winging it. I got blown out of it when on the bicycle recently even though I was in the correct lane.

Of course the Walkinstown Roundabout pales into insignificance compared to that one in Swindon and the one at the Arc de Triumph in Paris.

If they were following you onto the roundabout then they were not beeping at you or they are just stupid.

Middle lane is definately correct and ok.
Signaling to the right is arguable, as it is slightly beyond straight. But it would be far more correct to not signal right as it is following the same road almost perfectly straight. I would say do not signal right.
