    Hi,
I get notifications on my android like:

    "OMG!WTF!Congrats"
"google Play: Free App of the Day"

I don't know how the hell I configured my phone to do this.

    Any ideas how I remove?

    Thanks.

an app you installed recently is using notifications to push adverts to you. you have to uninstall the app in question and these will stop.

I think the ads are called AirPush, a little google of that will help you remove them.

Install Airpush Detector from the market & that should show you what apps are the culprits

    I just found this also:

    http://www.airpush.com/optout

opt out of AirPush could be handy if you want to keep the app in question.

Although I can honestly say I would uninstall any app using Airpush out of principle.

I can't say I'd be thrilled at having to send the IMEI of the phone I'm using just to opt out of push advert notifications.

This is happening to me too but it was happening before I installed any apps myself on the phone.

I installed Airpush after I had installed some apps and it says Brilliant Quotes is the only app I have giving me ads BUT I had all these stupid notifications before I installed it. So Airpush hasn't detected what the problem is.

I'm with Three if that makes a difference. Could it be a stock app causing this?

Unlikely. Usually only found in YouTube and MP3 ripping apps.

OMG! WTF! Congratulations you just won an iphone! And more along those lines.

An app called Top Offers came installed on the phone... could it be this? This is my first proper smartphone so I'm not sure if this is a normal stock app to have.

the "Airpush Detector" app will tell you what apps are causing it and you can then decider whether to uninstall thse apps or not

Unfortunately the Airpush app has not detected the problem...
