I just discovered this site and think it might be of interest to anyone who cycles in Dublin. Their current topic is "How can we encourage more people to cycle in Dublin?" They have forum and survey pages. If you register and contribute before the end of this month you go into a draw for a bike from Rothar.

It was launched last month by the Mayor, Andrew Montague. The DCC announcement says the project is an "initiative of the Creative Dublin Alliance and led by Dublin City University".

    Question in section 6

"How can we promote more cycling in Dublin?"

    Third option down is

"Target snobby and elitist attitudes about cycling (among cyclists and non-cyclists)"

    :D

Thanks for that, I wonder if it will have any effect...

Survey done (even allowing for the flawed questions and methodological inconsistencies...).
the project is an "initiative of the Creative Dublin Alliance...".

The what? I admire efforts such as this, but the balkanisation of initiative and endeavour in both the public sector and at the community/advocacy/activist level is quite depressing. Where collaboration and co-operation should be the order of the day, it seems competition (even if inadvertent) is becoming the default.

I've done quite a few surveys like this over the last couple of years, but I suspect most of them aren't aware of the others, which is a pity, as the opportunity to build a picture over time is missed.
