I want to cancel a holiday - my rights?

I have paid a deposit of 220Euro on a holiday to Italy in September but need to cancel - money and a family situation are the problem. The family situation is not one which might qualify for insurance cover - not health, death or the likes - I just have to be here.

Will I lose all the deposit?

Any suggestions on how to approach/deal with this?

No one can really tell you except the company holding the deposit - its quite possible it may be non refundable.

You may be able to use your deposit for the following year, I found out I was pregnant after booking and paying my deposit, but the travel agent allowed me to choose another holiday later on in the year.
    Hope this helps.

Depends on the terms and conditions of you booking. If it is non refundable then there is very little that you can do.

Having gone to the company with whom I booked the holiday I was told that the deposit will not be refunded.

I was hoping for something back at least but I'm afraid that's not going to be the way.

    Many thanks for your replies.
