my parents have a sky+ distribution box in the attic for the sky eyes (which goes to a bedroom and another tv). They would like to plug in a aerial connection to the tv, but the tv only has one aerial socket. Is there a way to combine both these signals down one wire ?

Yes there is. On the back of the Sky box there is a connection called "aerial in" .

Normally nothing is connected to this, so the setup goes

    Aerial
    Sky box aerial in
RF2 out of Sky box ----distribution box in attic
    TV

In this way every TV will get the aerial and the Sky channels. Please note if the Sky channels suddenly become noisy there is a solution I can explain.

thanks, problem is there is only one cable run from attic down to where skybox is (which is bringing the rfout connection upto the attic), so I would be short a run of cable (to bring the aerial down)

Combine the aerial feed with one of the satellite feeds from the dish and split again before the Sky receiver - http://www.tvtrade.ie/amplifiers-and-diplexers/satellite-combiners.html

As the cush says. You can combine a Sat and a TV aerial on the one cable, and seperate them at the end.

You need TWO combiners. The satellite cable goes to the red side. The TV aerial goes to the other side. The combined side travels down to the Sky box. Before the sky box fit another combiner. Connect the cable to the side with the one connection. This then gives 2 connections. The red one to the Sky box, the other one to the RF in.

Make 100% sure you have it the right way around as otherwise you can damage TV's and the Sky box. Basically it's a Y at the top and an upside down Y at the bottom. This is the best way to do the job.

It is simpler to run an extra cable if you can. Less complicated, less to go wrong, less to buy, less chance of damaging anything or getting a sore head from it not working!
