Down the country is a big place ;)

    Do you mean commuting?

It would depend on what you mean by "down the country".

You'd have to be a bit more specific as the transport links and distances vary enormously!

    Moved to the "work/jobs" forum.

What sort of distance are you talking - "down the country" is a bit vague!

I think an hour either way (on decent roads) would be at the top end of I'd do each day - and that would get me as far as somewhere like Mullingar or Portlaoise going by google maps.

Are you thinking further either way? By car / train / bus?

basically its a 2 hour drive down and 2 hours back.

the thing is id only have to do it 6 times a month due to shift pattern in job.

Id be doing some nights so id stay down there those nights obviously.

Would i be mad with this travel? also id be away from home 1/2 nights a week.

    6 times a month is 24hours driving a month.

At the moment I drive 1 hour each way every day mon-fri which is 40 hours a month

You already asked this in another thread under a different username.
