Employment issue

    The company I work for announced yesterday that it was restructuring the business unit here in Ireland. There are some 30 employees some permenant some contract.
    They propose to redefine positions held at present, combining different roles and calling them some new position. Staff will then have to apply for these positions and the unsuccessful staff will be made redundant.
    Q1. I am on sick leave and will be out while all this is going on, can they do this with my position?
    Q2. While out sick, can be I be involved in this process as it might be deemed as working while out sick.
    I'm still trying to figure out all the implications.
