New Handicap Query

I've just received my first handicap and with it being quite high I want to start getting more rounds in and attempting to reduce it. My question is; is it only results in opens/comps that affect the handicap? For example, I'll be heading out for a game with a society soon. Am I correct in thinking my result in that will not count?

No you will need to submit your score to your home club from the Society outing.
There should be a sheet up on your home club noticeboard to put in your details.
This year they changed the rules so that society scores are counted
