Hi, yet another which car thread I'm afraid.

First baby imminent and we have two dogs so the only solution I can see is an estate car. Budget is probably around 8k. Other then that I suppose just economical and comfortable.

Any suggestions or experience of estate cars would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Do you do much mileage? Subaru estates are great all-rounders, reliable and cheap to buy but a bit hard on fuel.

    Audi Avant?

Neighbours of mine brought in a Citroen C5 estate from the uk. its a 2010 model. looks really good and can fit 2 medium sized (Labradors) in the back. just had a look on carzone there, a 2008, 1.6 model costs around 11-12k. bit over budget but will definitely last you a lifetime!

Don't fall into the trap of thinking you're safer buying from a dealer - you're not. My advive is to buy a car with FSH from a private seller who's had the car a while and who appears honest, solvent and careful, run a history check, and have a mechanic examine it before any money changes hands.

Thanks but I have a trade in and will be financing it.

Avant simply means 'estate', so Audi avant could mean any Audi estate. Ive always felt that Audi are mechanically soft cars, and you pay a premium for that sharp suit. I'd prefer the likes of a C5 estate or a Subaru Legacy myself.

Jag X-Tyre Estate, handsome, well priced and mondeo underpinnings, so reliable etc.

I regularly drive a 2.5 Forester, gen 2 I think with over 200k Km on the clock and it feels solid, brand new and just sticks to the road. Really under rated car. It gets about 25mpg around the city so the 2.0 would be better.
