Can someone point me in the right direction as regards what engine oil is for a 02 bora 1.4?

You need to determine the service interval specification for your car. If you have the Service Schedule (the book that is stamped at each service), look inside the the front cover of this book. It will have a lot of numbers on a sticker. The same sticker is in the wheel well in the boot.

About half way down you'll see the PR numbers. Lots of them - all 3 characters long. Look for one that says either QG0, QG1 or QG2.

QG0 or QG2 is fixed service interval and you can use semi-synthetic oil.

QG1 is flexible service intervals and you should use fully synthetic oil.

If you can't determine which is which then use Castrol Edge - it will do for both specifications.
