Nobody can give you a definite answer. All insurance companies are different.

17/18 Year old male, with little experience is going to cost you.

And since it's under your dad's policy, it's impossible to shop around, so you're kind of stuck in these situations.

Aviva aren't in the market for young drivers at the moment. Was told this recently. The reason why they do the 6 month deal is because it's does so well, its worth there while in terms of money, as with the driving school, that's doing better then they expected.

Yea i understand the age Craic n all that but I know people who are getting it cheaper named on their parents policy with provisionals! Sometimes I think I'd be better off without the full! However I can get my own policy for 16/1800 it just doesn't make sense!

It does make some sense. Everyones policy is different, and different companies will charge different rates. Your mates may not be with the same company as you, or they are just a different level of risk. Age of all drivers, vehicle in question, where they live, NCB, years driving etc etc. That's why it's impossible for us to give you an idea of quotes.
