    Interesting event coming up this Sunday in Moneymore , Co.Derry.

    Sperrin MTB Sportive 2012

    Details of the 2012 Sperrin MTB Sportive.

    Following on from last years event we have plans to make the 2012 event even better.

    SPERRIN MTB SPORTIVE HOSTED BY HARPS CYCLING CLUB



    SUNDAY 17TH JUNE 2012



    EVENT HQ IS MONEYMORE RECREATION CENTRE (BT45 7XJ)



    SIGN ON FROM 9AM.



    SIGN ON AND GO . THIS IS NOT A MASS START EVENT AND NOT A RACE!



    THIS EVENT WILL BE RUN ON A MIXTURE OF OPEN MOUNTAIN TRAILS , SINGLE TRACK , FIRE ROADS , FORESTS ,PRIVATE ESTATES , FARM LANES AND A BIT OF TARMAC TO JOIN IT ALL UP.







    3 ROUTE OPTIONS:



    RED ROUTE , 65KMS AND LOTS OF CLIMBING . THIS ROUTE IS OPEN TO EXPERIENCED MOUNTAIN BIKERS ONLY . TARGET TIME 4HR30mins-5HRS



    BLUE ROUTE , 55KMS SIMILAR TO RED ROUTE BUT AROUND 1HR SHORTER . TARGET TIME 3HRS 30mins



    GREE ROUTE , 35KMS , THIS IS THE LEISURE ROUTE. ALLOW 2HRS 30mins .



    ALL ROUTE WILL BE CLEARLY MARKED , RED , BLUE , GREEN





    THERE WILL BE A FOOD AND WATER STOP ALONG THE ROUTE , THERE WILL ALSO BE A DROP BOX OPTION .



    A LARGE SECTION OF THE ROUTE WILL BE ACROSS PRIVATE LAND , PLEASE RESPECT YOUR ENVIROMENT AND TAKE ALL LITTER HOME!



    SHOWER AND CHANGING FACILITIES AVAILABLE AT EVENT HQ.


    HOT FOOD , SANDWICHS AND REFRESHMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED AT FINISH.

    I would just like to acknowledge the brilliant event that the folks in Harps CC hosted today in Tyrone. Anyone who is looking for a quality MTB challenge and didn't bother making the distance for this one definitely lost out. Great route, excellent MTBing, goody bag alone is probably the value of the admission!, hot showers and pasta dinner afterwards - fantastic value for money and really well organised.

    Delighted I made the trip on this one.
