Hi all, help much appreciated in advance

Bought a '01 Almera with factory fitted tape deck / radio which wasn't working. It was checked out by mechanic prior to me buying who said that power was still coming through, issue with code on the radio most prob (When cable and antenna cord is plugged in the lights come on when you switch on main lights)4

So purchased an installation kit with relevant ISO cables etc and have been given a JVC cd player

On hooking it all up, no luck, dead, not a bit of life
Check with another cable harness from halfords and no luck (radio is working 100% on other cars)

Checked fuses, all ok, even swapped the fuse for the audio with the fuse for the front fog lights (same amp) and they worked ok

    Any suggestions ?!?

    Cheers in advance.

With ignition turned on check for 12 volt on both red and yellow leads supplying the JVC unit. If 1 supply is missing your radio will not power on.

Im nearlly sure that on the almeras the ground comes from the aerial socket on the factory fitted radios. i remember putting a radio in a few years back for a friend. It may be worth splicing the ground (black ) wire on your iso lead and joining a wire into it and running it to a good ground connection point. i think i used a screw that was used for mounting the dashboard.
