Free tolls on Christmas eve?

Thought of this earlier. Wouldn't it be great for both drivers and toll companies if Christmas eve was designated free tolls?

Everyone wins, including free publicity and brand building for toll company.

Anyone got links in these companies that could suggest this to them? or any opinions good or bad?

Why would someone give their product or service for free on the busiest day of the year? Totally daft suggestion.

I worked in a company where the cafeteria served a turkey and ham Christmas dinner the week before Christmas which was free. You saw people there for the free dinner who didn't darken the door of the canteen for the rest of the year and that's precisely what would happen if the toll bridges and motorways were free on Christmas Eve, people too mean to pay now would use it and they wouldn't be back again for a year.

    Brand building me arse.

Whatever about christmas eve, I think tolls should be free when the weather is bad like 2 winters ago. It cost me a fortune using the tolls to avoid the N4 that year. On a matter of safety alone it should be done.

I'm fairly sure the East Link was free on New Year's Eve (well, technically it was New Year's Day) a few years ago. I've no idea what happens these days as I am encumbered with time vampires blessed with young kids and don't go out of a New Year's Eve any more.

How is not charging you safer than charging you?

Honestly, lads, give your own sh1t away if you're feeling generous.

That's like a loyalty card from the Fire Brigade, collect 3 stamps and the next time your house burns down, its free.

Yes a private company is going to not charge on one of the busiest days of the year for them, that's not going to happen.

As for 'brand building', what brand? You either use the toll section or you don't, there's no alternative toll you can go and use.

Personally I would be more in favour of pubs giving free beer on Christmas Eve! :)
