    Hey guys,

Just a quick one, what do people think of Firestone brand tyres? Got quoted €65 per tyre (getting 4) fitted & balanced there for 165/70r14 and I thought that's pretty good.

    All input much appreciated. :)

It is a good mid level brand and price seems ok for the size in a local shop

I'd pay a few quid extra per wheel and get something better tbh, ive had a couple of bad experiences with firestones.

Yeah? These are Firestone Multihawk ones I've been quoted on in Atlas. I've tried Dave McCann and Discount tyres too but it seems that 165/70r14 is a tough size to get.
I think Dave McCann quoted me 75 per tyre on some Pirelli's but he has none in at the moment. It's for a 1.4 Corolla saloon, I won't be driving fast in it but it understeers quite badly in the wet with the current tyres on it. Though I know this car is known for understeer.

My experience of Firestones has been very good. There has been a set on my girlfriends Polo since she got the car nearly 2 years ago and they are still in great condition, and were more than able to handle the snow and icy weather we had the winter before last when many other tires on other cars couldnt cope. Theyre not exactly a cheapo budget brand tire anyway!

Cheers for the insight, I've got "Westlake" tyres on the car at the moment which are not worn down all the way but have tried their best to scare the shíte out of me a few times in wet weather.
Just got onto Dave McCann there again and they have Semperit @€;55 or Continental (they think that's what they have, as delivery is only being unloaded now) @€;75.

Pretty mixed bag as reviews go http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Firestone/Multihawk.htm, I guess it depends on what car you're putting them on and what kinda driving you'll be doing, looks like they're safe in wet and dry anyways, which is a lot more then can be said about many of the tyres on sale.

Dave McCann called me and beat Discount tyres price for some Goodyear Duragrips, so I took him up on his offer :)

They got their name from where you'll end up if you attempt to drive the car normally in wet weather :pac:

More chinese piles of crap, shouldn't even be allowed to be sold.

They came with the car so it's not something I really noticed initially as I got used to driving it. But I realised during the recent heavy rain they had as much grip as a bar of soap! Anyone on Goodyears?

That tyre size on a corolla sounds strange. I remember a poster was complaining about grip of his corolla with similar size and another poster pointed out factory fitted size is 175/65/14. Even size is correct, I would think about putting a wider tyres to have better grip. It won't cost you extra probably.

Hmmm, upon googling that it seems 165/70r14 is the right size for my car so I'm not too sure where that poster got his info from. Though it may actually be the case that a different size tyre would improve the road holding ability of the car, I'm not in a position to test the theory out. I've got steel wheels on mine and have no intention of upgrading due to cost....

What did you go for, looking at firestone or bridgestone. Not a whole pile in the difference price wise, which would be the better tyre, I also drive a toyota corolla. Thanks.

Going for bridgestone makes sense. Check production date of tyres. Don't buy old stock.
