Laptop screen: broke

Hi, my laptop (dell xps m1530) screen broke. I tried to disconnect the screen cable fron the motherboard while it was connected to the power and then when i connect it again it had become black with really bright light. Never came back on. Someone told me that the fuse on the mother board breaks when screen is disconnected while the battery is in. Is there any fix for this? Or reinstalling everything will help?

Also, my vista dvd got stuck in the dvd reader, how can i get it out?

    Thanks a lot

On the DVD readers there is normally a tiny hole where you can put in a blunt needle or something of that size to manually release the tray.

Not sure about the screen but did you try putting an external monitor on it just to see that it is only the screen that is gone?

The 1530 uses a slot loading drive so this won't work.
