    Hi,
Does anyone know of a garage who imports cars from the uk, pays all the duty, gets the NCT done and then sells them. There used to be someone in Croom Co Limerick but I can't seem to find him now.

There are LOADS of garages that get their stock from the UK.

Legally they all have to pay all the taxes and duties before selling it to you. The NCT should be sorted by them too.

    What are you looking for?

here in the North the vast majority of used cars come across from GB.

I work in Larne and the number of car transport truck coming off the ferries is unreal.

a load of them just HAVE to be heading south......

Even alot of main/large dealers are selling UK imports from their forecourts these days as stock here has dried up somewhat.

My father bought a UK Auris from Hogan's in Ennis.

I am in the market for a Renault grand scenic 1.5 diesel. I had a NI import Zafira before and I was very happy with the standard and condition of the vehicle when I got it

Why pay someone to do something that you can do yourself? It's not not difficult to bring the car you want in. Id have better peace of mind doing it myself tbh.

That's probably a good idea but I am not sure if I would have the time let alone where to start. Like where to go for the car NI or milland Britain? Do i buy from a garage or a private sellyr? Or how to be sure of a car if I haven't seen, it's a long trek to view a car only to not to be as expected and to return empty handed. It's easier to do that locally and let someone else do all the work.

They're not Toyota dealers any more though, although they are authorised service and warranty agents, you have to go to cummins cars down the road for a new paddy speccer.

As for going to the uk, buy from a big dealer, pay for an aa check if necessary, any wedge the dealer over here would make is money you could save,

Yep, Cummins are importing a few UK cars too but not on the scale of Hogans. The father found them decent to deal with.

Actually is it even worth importing a Grand Scenic, they are pretty cheap to buy here second hand also.

They might even be cheaper here too

Why don't you just buy the best/most keenly priced car you can find here, without worrying about where it's coming from?

Thanks guys for all the replies, there is lots of things there which i can follow up on. I think I will try thoses garages mentioned first and see what is on offer there first. Then I might compare prices with some uk clasifieds website. I will report back on how I get on. By the way what is a 'paddy spenser'?

A "paddy speccer" I guess is a reference to an Irish spec car, which is usually 4 wheels, a steering wheel and not much else. ;) UK cars generally come with a bit more standard spec, or you'll find many more of the used cars have a higher trim level whereas most Irish cars will have the most basic trim level.
