I'm really interested in getting an internship or work experience in music events around Dublin, specifically in the o2. Would be interested in basically runner type/ behind the scenes work.

Anyone know what would be the best way of going about this?

Most event crews aren't local and the ones that are are specialist.

You could however do some work in their officers upstairs but it's a small enough place so they mightn't have a need for one.

    Best bet to try http://www.theo2.ie/contact-us/

There's an internship going with MCD at the moment through JobsBridge.

Local crew work is a starting point but what you really want is to work with the technical crew - sound, visual, lights. These people work full-time but mostly freelance for a range of companies. These companies take people on and if you are keen you will get your chance. It's up to you then. It's all about experience and you get that working alongside the pros. Try Litton Lane, EQ Audio in Dublin. There are others - ask !! Don't be put off if they say they have nothing. Go in and see them. Say you will work for a month for free in their warehouse helping out. If you show any aptitude they will start to send you out to help out on paid jobs and then you are in and make of it what you can.
