I think in that case ,it would be sold by an estate agent .MOST criminals buy houses in their wifes, relations names.Mostly the cab seizes
money, cars, goods etc or freezes bank accounts.
THE local drug dealer is hardly gonna buy 3 houses in cash, the tax man would say ,wheres joe bloggs getting all this money.
The state hasnt got a good record handling property,
eg the government vastly overpaid for buildings, sites for decentralisation
who is now worth 70 per cent less.
even the general had no house in his own name.
I,D say the no of houses seized by cab is very low,
and they are not in the business of evicting women or children from a house ,even if a crinimal lives there.

The answer is yes, they do come up from time to time but I wouldn't get involved for myriad reasons.

If the estate agent was selling the house, who would accept or reject offers on the house, do ye think?

latenia, out of curiosity, what reasons would put you off ....?

You can buy them, I know a Garda who bought a criminals house..

They are sold like a previous poster said by est. agents on behalf of CAB.

On a lighter note OP, 17 posts in 5 years ?.. welcome back..

I cant remember ,reading last week, cab went to court, seized 2 houses from a certain person,or maybe its just not reported in the papers much.
why would a estate agent advertise this house as taken from a drug dealer,
    it would put off buyers.
its like banks, when they took houses from developers/companys in debt, they were either given to nama ,or sales are handled by estate agent.

gives a couple of good reasons not to buy a house that drugs were dealt in.
