The Methodist Church in Ireland yesterday elected its first female President. Rev Dr Heather Morris is currently the Director of Ministry at Edgehill Theological College. She will become President in June of next year for a one year term.

I was in the same class as Heather in school. I am sure she will make an excellent President

Methodists have had a positive impact on this country in excess of their small numbers - very best of luck to her.

I've been fortunate to have been able to listen to Dr Heather Morris 'preach' a couple of times. The way she spoke passionately about God's love, grace, and mercy, and compassionately about humankind was inspiring. And she just comes across as a lovely warm person. Someone who brings people closer to God. :)

I'm not a Methodist, but I thank God that I've been blessed by having opportunities to have worshipped and interacted with many Irish Methodists in an ecumenical setting. They are a marvellous bunch, if you ask me! The combination of having so much to offer to the Christian family - and society in general - and at the same time apparently having genuine respect for other Christian denominations - that's powerful!

May God bless Heather, her family, her church, and the whole of Ireland, through her time as President.

Congratulations! I pray God will use her mightily in that role!
