Hi I have a kirosene boiler, which is a Firebird Super Q 50/82. I am using this to heat 10 rads and water. I am looking for advice as to wheather I should get a more economical one, which would cut down on my fuel usage

A modern condensing boiler will be more economical, you will have to weigh up the the economics of the cost of installing a new boiler against how much you will save on fuel.

Especially when you have a perfectly good boiler that has passed the test of time and if serviced correctly will see it running perfectly for years which i'm affraid can't and imho wont be the case for modern condensing boilers, manufacturers these days dont seem to worry about the test of time.

It will also depend if you have anything controlling the system. You will be waiting a while to get the pay back if you just change the boiler with no control over it i.e temp control, hot water control.

Thanks for your replies, but if I upgrade to modern unit, wont it heat more water faster and not be cutting in too aften.

If I keep the unit I have at the moment should i still put controls on rads now and on hot water

Even if you just put a programmable room stat in and get some kind of control on your hot water along with maintaining your boiler you will make some savings.

A new boiler will still cycle if there is no control on it.
