Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post. I'm just looking for a bit of advice on whats the best route from Santry to Ballsbridge on Monday lunchtime. I would like to know what would be the fastest as I have to be in a certain place by a certain time. Would I be better going through the city or be better taking the M50 and if I did take the M50 whats the best exit to take for Ballsbridge.

If cost is no object, then the Port Tunnel and across the East Link would be by far the fastest. At a guess I'd say about 20/25 minutes (obviously barring something like the tunnel being closed!)

I assume you mean the port tunnel? cant think of any where less handy for the m50 from santry than ballsbridge tbh.

Thanks guys, I've never been through the port tunnel before because I simply had no need to be.
I'm staying in the Metro hotel in Santry, is it up at the M1/M50 roundabout that I would pick up the tunnel and what are the charges for it.

Head in towards town along the M1 for the tunnel - it's €3 off peak (bloody brilliant value IMHO!). The East Link is €1.80, or something like that.

Thanks Heidi, I never even thought of the port tunnel but it seems the best option and I have a sat nav for when I come out the other end so I should be grand.:)

I would go via Samuel Beckett Bridge http://goo.gl/maps/K7ym

It might take a bit longer than indicated (20 minutes) as Drumcondra can have quite heavy traffic and you encounter a lot of traffic lights, but there's no tolls - the port tunnel is €10 at peak times for cars so you might want to avoid it then!

As above. At that time come in the N1, Drumcondra, left onto North Circular, on to Seville Place, Guild Street, Beckett Bridge and up to Shelbourne Road. 30 mins at most to there. Only caveat is the Eucharistic Congress in the RDS which might cause issues. Port Tunnel won't do much for you at that time of day.

santry-drumcondra take left onto clonliffe road right onto jones rd ( croke park )then go left onto north circluar road go straight all the way over samuel beckett\s bridge and up to the T junchion of grandcanal st go left and that will take you to ballsbridge with no no tolls and should take about 30-40 mins.

Lunchtime on a Monday would not be peak time but I'd generally agree with your route.
