My brother works and lives in England.I've being a named driver on his insurance policy in Ireland since i've started driving as its alot cheaper.I was wondering if he bought a car in England, kept it in his name and insured it over there, with me as a named driver...would it be alright for me to drive it in Ireland on english plates if i was still living in ireland?I was just wondering would it work out cheaper than paying vrt or would i be better off bringing it in?

I'd suggest you have a look at the insurance implications of your suggestion, you risk voiding the policy if the main insured driver is not in fact the main driver.

In relation to the tax implications of your proposal, to put it simply we don't allow threads in relation to tax avoidance.
