    Hi, weird problem.

Bought an 07 focus, radio worked when i looked at it but the LCD screen had gotten broken and needed to be changed. So it was changed and i bought it.

Anyway, got the car yesterday and the fm radio wouldnt work, well it works but is of extremely poor quality, un-listenable, mw and cd are fine. I drove to work and was messing with the radio and suddenly it started to work perfect. This was after 1hrs driving.

Got into car to drive home same problem, again when i was driving for almost exactly 1 hr it suddenly kicked in!

Anyone ever here of this and know how to fix? Will be taking it on a long spin tomorrow, will be interesting to see if the hr thing happens again!

If your radio is model 6000 and black in colour then the tuner module is faulty and needs to be replaced.

This is a very common repair in my workshop.

it is indeed the 6000 cd, can i buy a module seperate or is it a whole new radio?

Tuner module is fitted inside the radio. Is the volume control in the centre of front face or is it to the left hand side.

    Its in the centre.

It is very unusual for this model to give radio reception problems. All I can say is that it is certainly repairable but for me to do it I would have to see it in my workshop.

Well thats whats happening, usuallay it'l scan through the whole loop and get nothing, occasionally it'll stop but be very poor reception. Once or twice it has come thru perfect. Like i said, forget the hour landmark in the op, that was only a coincidence, havnt had it clear since.

    Your in Galway, shame.

You know where I am if you want me to help. I would possibly have a second hand unit for sale

Have the same problem in a 2002 focus.

The radio is the black 6000 model you mention above, roughly how much does it cost to fix ?

I wont give you a price on public forum but all I will say is most likely the cost of repair would exceed value of the radio.

Sounds like I'm better off sticking a cheap standard radio in so, thanks.

An update on the problem, sometimes it works fine, crystal clear, but when you turn the ignition off and on again it can be gone, seems to be totally random.
Could it simply be a loose wire in the back? Ive ordered the tools for taking it out off Ebay so ill have a look at it in a few days.

The fault is inside the radio and is in no way connected to the external wiring.
