Renewing 2nd Learner's Permit

Hi just a quick query, how do I go about getting a third learner's permit?

I know you need to either have applied for the test or sat it and failed it before getting it but how do I go about the application? Do I need to wait until I get a test date or is the letter I have received acknowledging that I have applied be satisfactory proof for the Motor Tax Office in order to get the 3rd learner's permit?

I have applied for the test, waiting for a test date but due to waiting times for the test centre I have applied for, it is likely my test date be after my 2nd learner permit expires.

Is it the application the same process as getting a 2nd learner permit? Photos and fill out a form along with proof of applying for the test?

Also how soon do I need to have renewed the 2nd learner permit and get the third learner permit before sitting the test is there a special time frame?

Once the learner permit is valid and up to date it shouldn't matter when I get the third learner permit as long its valid for the driving test?
