A Nature Shot has taken the POTW. This is an absolutely brilliant photo, up there with the best anywhere. Well done bernard0368.

That kingfisher is unbelievably vivid. Can bernard0368 tell us a bit about getting that shot?

    Thanks, a148pro,
Where to start, This is one of a set, not the best one I am holding a couple back. I was lucky as the light changed briefly and the bird came to perch at the right time. It was one of those shots, you knew you nailed before looking at it.
After that it was a little tweaking in raw boosting the saturation, contrast etc.
    The tech:
    F5.6
    160s
    canon 7d with 100-400 @310mm
    Remotely fired from 15ft away.

    The Bird.
I spotted him a few weeks before, when walking the dogs. I went back a couple of times and only saw him once more, at this time I noticed that there were a couple of them flying back and forth with small fish. I discovered that this was a nest site, which I was a little suprising as there was a busy footpath 6ft away and a area which showed a lot of signs teenage drinking etc. Just shows the tenacity of nature.
