Geography - Easiest JC exam?

I think I got an A on the geography test today (with very little study), the questions were simple. Anyone else think the same?
The actual exam itself is probably the easiest because the short questions count as 40% of the exam, and most people usually get all of them right.
Even the long questions are easy enough.

You're forgetting about a little thing called CSPE. ;)

Yeah, it was an easy paper alright. I'd say the marking scene will be very tough though..

Was very easy alright. So was OL Irish though. CSPE will be easiest I'd say.

I found the long questions difficult enough! :o

I did question 2, 3 and 5. Simple! I found it p*** easy and it's not my best subject :P

    Absolutely delighted with myself!!

I did 3,45 and I think the Ordnance Survey map was shi.te.

Thr historical sites were really hard, I ending up going for cannot crannóg and a fulacht fia, I named them, located them and said what they were used for.

I had real problems with the tourist question there was literally nothing to say! In the end I said the areas with forest, boating activities on the Shannon and places of historical interest, but it was really slim pickings!

The hotel question in Question 4 with the Aerial Photograph was ideal, there was a big dump site in the middle of the picture. The other parts about Women in Industry were a doodle.

Question 3 was OK, I did 3A and 3B which was fine but 3C was climates so totally out of the Quesion. I mis read 3D - I thought it meant for a renewable source of energy, what things do you need (like a hydroelectric dam, windmills etc.) I didnt think they would ask something as simple as that.

    Short questions were grand.

    They'll pick your best 3 don't worry,

Although I'm not sure if you may have written enough for each section if you managed to do all of it in 2 hours,

    A; Tundra.

    C; Equatorial.

    I *may* be wrong.

Ehm.. I would consider what you said a pull factor to be quiet honest with you! :/ I wrote about its historical factors, port factors and recreational ;/

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 101 ✭✭ektec

Well its not an important tourist destination because of recreational activities..thats the way i thought of it..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭ButtonBox

I said it was an important tourist destination because of its historical value, recreational activities and sporting opportunities. The last was a pure panic with 10 minutes at the end of the exam. Said that they could partake in boat races and tournaments on the football pitch hahaha. :D

I found it real easy, did all short qs, probably only lost 1 or 2 marks on them. For my long questions I wrote a paragraph for each answer and I got them right so nearly all marks for that as well. I did qs 1, 3 and 5.

For the toursist destinations I wrote that people used it as:
    1) A stopping point for cruises along the Shannon.
    2) A place to go bird watching, giving locations of lakes, forests and the Shannon.
    3) A historical place, giving the locations of a couple of random historical antiquities.

Yeah I agree, think the paper will be marked tough enough! Considering everyone thought it was piss!:)

Geography is always marked hard. During the mocks I was certain I'd gotten an A, came out with 72! Was devastated.

As I live close to Carrick, the OS map was a doodle. I said the cycling routeway (those Germans love it!), the marina and boating activities, and the historical sites. You could've also said the forest, and the Dock, which is an art gallery. Not sure if that's marked on the map though.

Did anyone find that bridge on the OS map in the short questions??

You had to compare it to the photo too. It was very hard to find, I agree. It's only because I know the town itself did I know where it was, and I still had trouble finding it. It was near the middle of the map, if my memory serves me rightly. Very small and partially covered by a symbol.

Nope it's not.If your answer isn't as per marking scheme you won't get the mark if it is you will.

My geography teacher told me lies!

... Then again she told me Hong Kong would do fine for a city that is overcrowded and I got 0 marks for it.

You would be grand with hiking and camping I'd imagine, although I don't think camping without permission is legal in Ireland :L but sure, how would you know that?

Ah, I forgot the golf course. Yeah, that'd be another thing.

If it's a hotel, would it not be ideal to have it on the main road where tourists see it?

I suppose as long as you gave good reasons!! :D

Im sure any location would be grand once you have some valid reasons..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 621 ✭✭✭if832uspx4eogt

I would have put it on the main road but there was no room so I placed it on the big dump site. I said that it's close to the main road so tourists wouldn't have to hire and car and close to the harbour for boating activities etc.

The left background was agriculture right? I saw someone circling Relious and it threw me off in case that big mound was some sort of religious standing stone.

'Twas. I wasn't quite sure but I knew it wasn't The Burren, because that's where all the limestone's located.

You won't get marks for naming it but you were able to describe any of them in detail so you'll be grand with the second answer :)

Doubt it :( They're ports for commercial trade such as people and cargo not fish.

Dunmore, Kinsale, Dingle, Killybegs, etc... are all fishing ports :P
