College Bursary

My daughter will, fingers crossed, be starting college this year. Doing the LC at the minute. Unfortunately, we don't qualify for any grants, even though we could badly do with one. I know of two bursary grants that I will be applying for. Anyone know of anymore that I can try?

Also, any ideas for a p/t job for her, preferably in Dublin city centre. Seems impossible to get anything!

    Thanks :)

The student assistance fund - she should apply for that - look for details on the website of whatever college she is going to

Just a small thing - how do you know you're not entitled to a grant?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

We don't qualify for a grant because we are over the income limit of the antiquated threshold system. The system seriously needs to be updated to allow for the change in current times. While technically we are over the limit, the system doesn't allow for the mortgage we're strangled with, usc, pension levy deductions etc. She will be going to college come hell or high water but we just might not be able to eat! (slight exaggeration, but you get my point)

I will check out the relevant websites. Thanks.
