Just wondering whether Iarnrod Eireann checks for ID for intercity trains as it says on the website. Booked tickets a while ago and have 3 teens as children, do we need to bring ID? Also when collecting reserved tickets do you just put the number in at the machine?
    Thanks for the info.

If you collect your tickets at the booking office you may be asked for ID. I only did this twice and wasn't asked on either occasion. However, if you make note of the reservation number you can enter this into a ticket vending machine and it will print the tickets instantly - no need for ID.

And so they'd hardly be asked on the train? Do they really need to bring ID? Thanks

I've never been asked for ID on the train. I can't say 100% that you won't be, but I never have.

You may be asked for ID if you pay for them as children and they look 16+ but you look like a trustable sort of girl so I know you won't do that :)
