Hey, I live in Dublin 8 and I want to get as close to the rds as possible either by driving and parking or by bus if possible?

What would be the best way to do this?

    Ta :-)

Don't know what event is on but Herbert Park (around the corner from Roly's) is normally quiet in the evenings so parking will be easy - unless there will be a big crowd attending the event in which case it will be full. Shelbourne Road would be an alternative. If it's a bit quieter you may even get parking on Anglesea Road but local residents tend to take up a lot of those spaces in the evenings.

However it's a red zone (€2.40 per hour) so expensive if you have to pay for a few hours, I don't know if Pay & Display stops at 7 p.m. or goes to midnight.

The road down to the sweepstakes is free parking, there would be spaces after people from the area finish work or else park on Elgin Road/Clyde Road its free to park there after 6.30.

Any road in D4 with 'free' parking is probably a private road, beware of private clampers!

Seriously, even the back lanes off Raglan Road have white boxes for Pay & Display, there are no public roads in D4 with free all day parking.

Depending on where in Dublin 8 you are, either of the following two options would be good:

1> Bus or LUAS to City Centre, then take a 4 or a 7 from O'Connell Bridge direct to RDS.

2> Walk or Bus or LUAS to Naas Rd/Kylemore Road junction, and take 18 direct to RDS.

If you let us know exactly where you are, we can give more detailed directions.
