Travelling to South America

    Hi guys, sorry if there is a thread on this already but I'm planning on travelling to South America on the 4th of September for four weeks.
    I basically want to experience a few south american countries such as Peru Bolivia, Colombia ect. I want it to be a fairly authentic holiday and I want to get some basic feel for the place. At the moment there is just two of us travelling myself and my cousins boyfriend. Where should we fly to and how much spending money would we need for the four weeks. I'm thinking of initially skipping Brazil due to the expensive nature of the place. I would like to see some of the ancient historical sites aswell.

    I see that there are some return flights to Rio for 700 at the moment.
    How much money would I need for this holiday, where should I get information from and who should I book flights with?
