This is about a campervan but it's just a normal DOE test as far as I know.
I am booked in for Friday and the only question is, will it matter if my bonnet release handle (inside) is broke?
The plastic bit is broke. It opens fine, there is a vicegrips attached but is that something that is likely to fail me? Simple to fix once I have the part but it has never been an issue for me so I never bothered.

We had a van in recently with a similar thing but he had a big washer on it, he just said it when he left it in and it wasnt a problem

Right another question. I passed without issue (just needed wiper blades).

I have my cert but what the hell do I do with it? It seems impossible to find out how I get it swapped, other than physically going to my local motortax office. I can find no procedure for doing it by post and calling the motortax office has proven ineffectual at best.
I can't go to my motortax office (Mullingar) without taking a day off work.
Unless I can go to another office, like one in Dublin. I know from trying to tax my car that this is not possible, it has to be my local one so I imagine it's the same for the certificate of roadworthiness.
I don't understand why this is so difficult? Surely there should be a simple from I can download, fill in and attach my Pass cert and post to the tax office?

Just fill in your rf100 and post it with your cert and a cheque for the ammount or laser card details

Is that form not for taxing a vehicle? I don't need to tax it, just need that cert. It only became a requirement in March for motorhomes so I have never had to do it before.

    Huh? what's the same thing?
I have a pass cert from the test centre. I need to exchange that for a certificate of roadworthiness. It says so on the back.
    So what is the same?

Or do you mean that the from for taxing a vehicle is also used for exchanging one cert for another? If so, I can see nothing that would indicate that anywhere.

I am still at a loss as to why it is so difficult to find out. The only reason I am asking on boards is because I can't see anywhere on the RSA, motortax, local authority websites or even on the cert as to exactly what I do with it. It just says exchange it at a motortax office as if I have to physically go there and that is my problem. Why should I have to take time off work for such a simple task?

Don't even get me started on why I need to test my campervan every bloody year now, when it only gets used a few weekends a year. It should be the same as a vintage car as they get about the same use in a year.

Most people just wait untill the tax is up and then present it at the time of taxing if they dont do both at the same time

Right well I taxed it in May so I am good for a year. It is also a 5 penalty point offence so that is not really much of an option.

I guess my only option is to keep trying the tax office and see what they say.

    · If the vehicle passes the test, get a Pass Statement from the tester.
    · Submit the Pass Statement to us, along with the appropriate fee, as follows:
    · €13.00 for a vehicle whose Design Gross Vehicle Weight is over 3500kgs (Heavy Goods Vehicle).
    · €6.00 for a vehicle whose Design Gross Vehicle Weight is less than 3500kgs (Light Goods Vehicle).
    · We will then send you a Certificate of Roadworthiness.

This is from Dublin Co Co but it should be the same for any county.
Just post it in with a cheque for the right amount and your name and address.

I'd photo-copy the cert first just for safety.

    Thanks Brian

Westmeath Co Co got back to me before lunch with that same info.

It would be nice if it was a little simpler, like a portal set up and the test centre simply log on and submit as a pass and then a portal for me to pay yet more money and then it can be posted out.
