They must only come out at night

It seems like at weekends that the lower floor in the Front Lounge has unofficially become a lesbian bar. Might be worth checking out if you are Dublin based.

    Have you tried GaydarGirls.com?

Good site for connecting gals - Ireland has its own section too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 523 ✭✭✭carly_86

Tried that and didn't turn out so well. I mean like do they not go out in pubs anymore

The lesbian scene in Ireland has always been pretty underground, but lately I've noticed a lot more noticeable lesbians knocking around the place- or perhaps it's merely my gaydar getting better. How do you know the women you're looking at in pubs, coffee shops etc aren't gay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,943 ✭✭✭wonderfulname

Define mid west. 41s in athlone, if its still going, used to do a gay night and de bruins in tullamore has a monthly (i think) priday, last one was friday, that's about as west as I'd get. There's a midlands lgbt facebook page that may be worth a look as well.

You can tell by the way they walk talk the way they look at all sometimes even by the drink they order.

Fair enough, I don't believe in any of it tbh, the only lesbians I can spot from a distance are the ones in little cliques, or checking out girls, that's a "tell" alright...

Reading effingdykes has improve my gaydar personally and I think with a little practice you can recognise gay women more easily. That said a lot of the time it's the way they dress and sometimes there's a certain quality I can't quite identify that tips me off. I can't imagine that the way they stand or drink is all that different? Also while I think gaydar exists I don't think every lesbian is immediately visible and that, as someone said, you could see loads of lesbians every day and not know they're gay.

Life would be easier if girls just wore name tags like "Hi, I'm not gay, but sometimes I am when drunk!!" :pac:

It's impossible to tell, a lot of gay women look and behave very straight.

You kind of need to get to know people.

Why don't we all get to know each other on here

Im almost tempted to start a 'Different types of Lesbians, and how to recognise them' thread :P

Im a 'Femme' I look totally straight - Dress girly and have long hair.

My girlfriend on the other hand is much more boyish than me, shorter hair, dresses in chinos and tshirts - wouldnt be caught dead in heels.

Alright I will - If a mod can check in and give me the go ahead?

It'll take a little time to put together though.

I'm from "near Tipp" originally myself haha, I hate Gaydar have NEVER met anyone off it, but in Tipp there are A LOT more lesbians than you think! I remember being at home thinking, "what the hell is wrong with this big butch camogie County that they can't even supply a woman"! But if you really look, you will find A LOT that are around! I promise you that! Go to watch a few women's soccer matches, you shall be neck-high in dykesville :)
