Dust in lens

    Hi,

I have a reasonably good compact camera (Lumix ZS-7), and I don't know how it happened but a small piece of tobacco has managed to get itself inside the lens.

Is there somewhere in Dublin that can open it and take this out? It's noticeable in some of the pictures I'm taking.

    Thanks very much in advance,
    John

it's virtually impossible that dust inside a lens will show up on a photo, really only dust on your camera sensor would show up in a picture (as a black mark)

and all lenses have some dust inside them

A piece of tobacco would probably be big enough to show up on a sensor especially on a point and shoot where the lens is much closer to the sensor and the sensor is tiny.

I amn't in Dublin (north wicklow) but I'd be happy to have a look at it. PM me for details if you want.

    Hi,

Thanks very much for the replies.

It's definitely within the lens itself I'm afraid. It's right in the middle and clearly visible when looking from the front of the camera. I should point out that it's just the one piece of tobacco or whatever it is, and not really dust.

I did a search last night and it seems that this camera is particularly prone to dust and foreign particles on the lens and camera sensor due to the zoom mechanism. Fairly annoying cos I did a lot of research before buying it!

@zerohamster Thanks very much for the offer. I'd be happy to compensate you for the time it takes. I can call over some weekend if it suits you?
