    Hi there,

I'm interesting in selling some photo equipment and I would like to know if you have any advice about good places to sell it, either online or shops. (apart from adverts.ie)

I'm leaving the country and I don't need/want these items anymore.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Efren

    Thank you!

I've just post an ad there too. However, they charge 1 EUR and they just request payment in the end...

Is there any shop in Dublin that buy second hand stuff?

You'll get much better prices online from something like adverts.ie then any shop will give you. That being said if you're short on time then Conns will probably take it off your hands. Ive even heard their own staff recommending people sell their stuff privately.

    eBay?

    Thank you for replying!

I know this shop...I can go and ask how much they are willing to pay...

I'm thinking about Ebay too, but I'm not sure about it since I don't like all the hassle of packaging and shipping involved....

Sold a used DSLR to them recently and got very little for it. Only went this route as I wanted to trade it in for another camera from Conns.
They will offer you nowhere near what you will get selling privately.
Great place to buy used kit though.

Imagine that! Someone charging for a service ;)
You'd think they'd be like us photographers and give it away for nothing...... #runsandhides

Thank you for all the answers.

So, it looks that the best option is to sell privately then, and thinking seriously of using Ebay...even if I have to package and ship it, I think you can reach much more customers...

Pullandbang, about DonDeal, it's another option, I don't mean that the service should be always free, but I don't like that they tell about price just in the end, and after you have spent 20 min to upload all information it's difficult to cancel it...and, I do charge for my work as photographer ;-)

Any other ideas about selling and getting a good deal?

If you're going to use eBay stay away from paypal. I sold a lens the other day and it sold for €275. eBay took €6 and paypal took €30

I agree with daftw ... ebay/paypal fees are huuuge (I sold a lens for about 5K cost me around €600 in fees/exchange rate)...I was not a happy bunny - but couldnt pull out of sale at that point...so took the hit (my own fault for not understanding the fee system)

Ebay have a % of sale - payment was made in dollars (and Paypal's exchange rate is not very favourable when compared to the banks)

kefrengg what you'd like to sell? I might be interested in something :)

Yeah, it looks quite expensive fees, but easier to sell...

Guys, which service do you use to ship your items and calculate the price?
