Manual network search showing UK networks in Dublin

Recently, I've found a "sweet" spot near my home where my phone will show a list of Irish and UK mobile networks when I manually search for a network.
The phone will list the usual Irish networks, plus "3 UK", "T-Mobile" etc.
I'm about an hour drive from the border (north co. dublin).

It's a strange one - I'm just interested to know why this would happen?

    Cheers, BN

i can always find o2 uk, T mobile , orange, and sure , if i do a network scan in Drogheda... sometimes i can roam on T mobile in Drogheda.

you can roam on all the uk networks in Clogherhead also..

you probably have a clear line of sight to the Mourne mountains?

    depends on the weather,

Was walking the beach in Portmarnock.

Would you think the signal would travel that distance from the Mourne mountains?
That must be approx 75 miles as the crow flies.

Was strange because I could only pick them up in one spot.
100 yards in either direction, I couldn't pick them up.

I picked up on all UK networks in swords before mountains in the north were clearly visible on this day.
