OP, from what I can gather, just by a quick Google search, there was a Union by the name of UMTTIE, but they seem to no longer exist. The last record I can find of them was in an LRC decision in 2007. I would suggest that you might contact the one of the schools of industrial relations in the colleges (Trinity or National College of Ireland - formerly the College of Industrial Realations). They might be your best bet.

ok i rang the Irish congress of trade unions and there not a recognized union at all  and there advertised union rep E**** W**** is not a trade union official surely a large company such as xtravision should not be advising and/or instructing there staff to be using a union rep from a union that doesnt exist, can that be right? why would xtravision leave itself open to such an important issue

on a side note if anybody would like to pm me there dismissal from the company i would be delighted to hear it in particularly where the above union rep was used :(

well what can happen just trying to protect my rights

They will be very quick to try get this thread closed if any allegations are not supported by facts so just be careful don't type in the heat of the moment.

That union does not exist nor is it regulated and mr B]NAME REMOVED BY MODERATOR[/B is 100% on the XV payroll always remember that. If you ring mandate they can tell you story's about this union having heard of it in the past. He is great friends with the hr department so do not trust this guy AT ALL you would be better protected by yourself in any meeting with hr

Just a little mod-reminder to think about whether to put officials names in posts unless they're in the public domain. And also that PMs are a good way to discuss issues sometimes.
