    Wednesday 06-Jun A3/A4
    60km
    Start Time -
    Sign-0n Venue Ballyboughal GAA Club

Swordsie boardsies, any further details on this? I hear the course is same as Swords GP, but what time is sign-on/start?

Anyone heading out to it from Dublin city centre/northside, who might give me a lift if it's raining like it is right now? :)

.... except I believe it is finishing on the flat rather than the Nags Head (the flyover over the M1 on the road between Ballyboughal and the old N1).

oh. That could be a very different race. But I'm still going to do my best to get on Mr Grieves' wheel!

Just going on what "Superman" Sam said ...

    "Evil" Joe !!!

Suspect you'll be looking for a new club soon Beasty, how's about Stamullen I hear Gaybo's much quieter and laid back than Joe, the Wheelers are a good lot but the all black gear is a bit meh, Raven has a Liverpool fan in the higher echelons so you prob wouldn't be welcome their either.

Looks like you may have to scrape the bottom of the barrell and join Orwell......

It's the evil grin he gives you when he tells you which group you're in and the handicap you're getting ...

... of course, for you guys in Group 1 it's smiles all round;)

It seems to me that most clubs around here have someone with Scouse affinity - I quite enjoy partaking in the banter from such a lofty starting position

And we wouldn't take him in Blanch Wheelies either.

... actually , come to think about it, I could start a breakaway Skerries club and put myself in whichever group I think fit

Not sure, but presumably if I sign-up the 4 kids, that would be enough to run a formal league with guests by invitation only

Checked with morana - it's not taken yet

However we could combine forces - the kids can fight out the junior prizes, you can have the senior one, and I'll take the vets and TTs trophies - we'll race on Wednesday nights to minimise the risk of interlopers ;)

Milverton Balrothery are on their own, Skerries has it's own club now due to "artistic" differences.

Can't find any info on the usual websites. Can someone tell me please if the race is starting at 7pm or 7:30?

Which of the two finish lines? The first before the flyover or the second on the flyover?

Supposed to start at 7pm, and with the risk of fading light I would guess they will try and get them off as soon as they can (although with the club league it can often be nearer 7.30 - I think only the Club Championship race is this long though)

The second line was used in the Club League a few weeks back, and I'm presuming this will be the finish tonight (as it was moved there to make it a bit safer slightly uphill finish)

The A4s were flying tonight. They had a 5 minute handicap advantage, and still had a lead of 4m 50s when they passed me at the bottom of the Nags Head climb on the first lap

By the second time round they had broken into 3 or 4 groups, but the lead one had actually increased their lead over the A3s to 4m 55s

Final time round it looked as if a couple of the A4 groups may have re-combined and they still had 4 minutes which they pretty much held to the end, when Adam Swirydowicz took a brilliant victory in the bunch sprint:

Although it did brighten up towards the end, the race was blessed with some typical North County weather

Got dropped first time up the hill last night. Too far back and couldn't make up the 5m. Joined a group til after the village and my legs wanted to pedal but my head was saying go home. Listened to my head. Good turn out in A4s. Stretch of road before the village was nasty with a load of muck on it probably fro
Tractor wheels. Lucky nobody came off. Well done to all for staying upright.

Pain pain pain today, second race of season on a hilly course was a bad choice. Dropped on climb fought to get back on by start finish dropped on second climb didn’t get back and no one fancied a training lap with me got soaked and then spun home with Lusk Doyle on marshalling duty. Hip and back in bits today (hip old running injury and back from whiplash in crash in this race last year). Well done to A4’s and Adam well deserved

If anyone is finding there is a shortage of sugar right now in North County Dublin, you know it's all gone into the scones for both Sunday and last night. Those are by far the best scones I have ever tasted! They weighed about a pound each and I could feel the sugar crunching in my teeth. Just what we needed after another wet and cold Swords race. Thanks to Swords CC for another great event, excellent circuit, and the inclusion of a KOM prize, which I think no one from the lead group was aware of bar the guy who went up the road on his own to get it. And how fitting that the same guy destroyed his wheel in a fender bender in the final sprint and walked away with both the KOM and 8th place envelope to help go towards a replacement.

A secret KOM prize? Was the winner a Swords guy? :p

no it was a Blanch guy who got the KOM, but he did tangle with a Swords guy at the finish when his wheel disintegrated and the swords guy won.......hmmmm.

I was marshalling at the turn onto the Nags head and as the riders came past on the second lap I was shouting "King Of The Mountains this time up!" as they went past. No excuses allowed Mr Santini :pac:

Must have been the mud in my ears... I'll read the brief next time (I'm sure it was well spelled out at the start too) I just missed it. Not that I personally could have gone any faster to fight him for it. I think we were all wondering what the guy was doing. Pays to do your homework I guess.
