    Hello, just posting to inquire about the history honours marking scheme (my most feared subject, I've worked so hard at it since the start of third year). What constitutes as an SRS? I think I write too much for essays and accounts, because I make a point and write all I know about it, so I usually end up writing too much. So, how much do you write to get the full two marks for an SRS? Thanks. :D

    SRS - a significant relevant statement.

    Example:
    Leonardo was a man who was a painter (0 SRS)
    Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter from a place called Vinci (half SRS)
    Leonardo invented a new way of painting called sfumato. (SRS)
    Leonardo was also an architect and an inventor and designed an early helicopter. (SRS)

    Short, concise statements are the way to go. There is no need to waffle. Just ask yourself if what you are writing is relevant to the topic. Also include a few extra points than needed in-case the examiner doesn't accept all your points as significantly relevant statements.

    Here's how the marking scheme describes an SRS:

    Significant Relevant Statement (SRS)
    (i) A major fact, aspect or phase of the topic;
    (ii) An explanation of a term or concept relevant to the topic;
    (iii) A valid interpretation, comment, opinion, judgment relevant to
    the topic;
    (iv) 2/3 tentative statements of fact, etc;
    (v) An important cause / effect;
    (vi) A pertinent relevant map / illustration (a map or illustration
    may merit more than one SRS);
    (vii) Valid introductory material

    Huh... So if I wrote a paragraph about, say, Leonardo's time in Milan and wrote about Ludovico Sforza and the letter and also "The Last Supper" and how it wasn't a true fresco and the oil tempera on stone etc., that would be more than one SRS? Pressure is off!! :cool:

    Absolutely.
    People write way too much in that question.
