Anybody else notice something odd about Fr Ted?

'24 October' is flashed across the top left of the screen...for no reason?

Am I the only one seeing this? Hope not...that's happened before.

That is when the analogue feed will be shut off meaning you will need to either get a decoder box or a saorview box.

This bit early to be showing though. We've got about 5 and half months before it goes

Good to see, it might get a few more people to realise that they need to do something about the changeover.

Better than those silly Tommy and PJ adverts, anyway.

And people will keep putting it off until the time comes and they will give out for not being warned sooner.

I think that it's too early and too prominent on the screen.
I'm quite happy not going to the expense of saorview for the time being.
Analogue Switch Off captioning will begin next week, running from June 4th to 8th. The captions will run on RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TV3 and TG4 analogue feeds.

There will be four captions per channel per day. They will last for 30 seconds and contain the following message:

On 24 October this year, the analogue TV service, which you are watching now, will be switched off.

To continue receiving Irish channels for free, make the switch to SAORVIEW. You will need a SAORVIEW Approved set-top-box or TV and a UHF aerial before that date.

There will also be a “bug” on the screen. This will be on screen permanently, except during ad breaks. The bug appears as:

    X October 24th

This is to indicate that if you are seeing the bug on your screen, you will lose service on October 24th.

SAORVIEW will issue a press release this Sunday detailing the on-screen captioning and bug.

The next burst of captioning will take place in July.

Have to agree. With months to go boxes will probably get cheaper too. Its way to central and seems to be permanent now.

Months to go? You make it sound like it is a very long time. It's less than 5 and that wont be long coming to pass.
