Treating a burn

    Hi

Sorry if this is the wrong place, was thinking in terms of health

I stupidly burnt my leg with a hair straightener which was at 230 degrees. It's about 2 inches in length and 1 in diamater.

It's a second degree burn and the blister burst itself last week. I'm applying savlon each day and a new dressing. My question is when I'm showering should I keep it covered too or is it ok to leave the dressing off and re apply a new one after?

It's a week since blister burst and it's starting to seep a bit now, looked like it was healing better two days ago but now it's red and sore.

What else can I do to treat and prevent scarring?

    Thanks

If you have a second degree burn, you should see a doctor. End of.

I'm gonna echo Nervous Wreck's post. If any burn gets so bad that it blisters, you get straight to a hospital and have it assessed. There is a much higher risk of infection now, so make that hospital visit a.s.a.p.

I read online that you should only see a doc if it's bigger that 2 inches. Mine is just about two inches.

Don't really want to shell out sixty for a doc if I don't need to, might pop into the chemist to see if they will recommend something

ETa, I'm being silly, it's only sixty quid. I should just go. Note to self, never curl hair in underwear!

I have done that before, sat on my GHD's getting ready, I went to boots and they laughed at me when I had to admit what i'd done.
I used loads of aloe Vera, then bio oil. It took almost a year before the scar went!
However I can't remember if it blistered or not. Or if there is a possibility it's infected go and see GP.
    I feel your pain.
