As the title says, has anyone any recommendations? Good quality that arent mad expensive?

At the minute only looking for 12kg -16kgish. For lunges and that sort of thing. Nothing too heavy. Tore my cruciate last year and due to work which are 11 hour shifts I cant get to the gym at all these days. But I want to keep up doing any bit I can when I come in from work.

Any places online you would recommend? Or because of the "weight" involved am I better going to a shop? If so which one?

    Thanks for any info guys.

Argos do reasonably priced dumbbell sets, just be sure to get cast iron rather than vinyl ones as they're much higher quality.

+1000 on this. The vinyl weights are huge for the weight of them, a 5kg one is massive in width compared to say a 10kg cast iron one, pain for storage and you can't fit many of them onto a bar.

Personally my biggest regret was spending money on dumbbell sets and not just paying out a decent amount for something like a powerblock or other adjustable dumbbells - just didn't plan ahead. (Although if you keep weights up you'll probably outgrow those as well)

+1 on the power blocks - have mine for over 7 years now and still working grand. Very expensive though.

Kettlebell is a good cheap investment also

amazon.co.uk often have good deals on iron weights, usually cheaper than argos. Delivery is free if over £25, so you do not have to lug it home from argos.

I bought weights in argos and the guy behind the counter says 'I'll get someone to carry them out for you'

I got thick and said no that I was well able to carry them myself.

B@st@rd thinking women can't carry weights. pffft! :D

(I did almost die getting to the car but my pride stayed intact)

My mate did sort of the opposite, dragged another friend of mine along to help him carry the weights home from argos. He was a strong enough lad at the time, into GAA etc, then the woman comes over with this small box, lifting it not a bother. It was 20kg of dumbbells and he just had no concept what 20kg is like. The lad dragged along was fuming seeing this tiny box!

It is sort of deceiving though, you never expect such a small cardboard box to weigh so much.
