Rock Fitness Dundrum or Ben Dunne Sandyford?

    Hi,

Thinking of joining a gym and am torn between the two above. Ben Dunne looks like a thoroughly more modern gym whereas Rock Fitness is closer to where I live.

Both gyms are roughly similar in cost to join, with Ben Dunne being 210 for the year (or 360 for two if you get a friend to join) and Rock Fitness coming in at 200.

I would be a novice to bodybuilding and would be hoping where ever I go would offer me a decent programme to get me started.

    What do people think?

Hey I live in the area too! Ive never trained in Ben Dunne's but I had a look around before they opened it there a few months and was impressed its very well equipped and as you said the price is really competitive!

I have trained in Rock fitness in Dundrum and i wasnt overly impressed with it tbh after going their I decided to join Raw in town instead ( was the same time total fitness went belly up so got a good deal) but if you had to choose between those two its a difficult choice.

Ben Dunne's is supposed to be like a suitcase as its so busy and that's at most times during the day! Where as I wouldn't Say rock fitness would be nearly as busy but the trade off is the facilities aren't as good in my own opinion!

Try BHAF? Across from Ben Dunnes in Sandyford pretty much. It's a real no-frills place, but there is some great equipment, and you'll get great advice. It beats joining a huge anonymous chain gym ... www.bhaf.ie

The thing with Rock Fitness is, I don't like the look of the place, but it is nearly on my doorstep. It would be handy to think that I could just jump out of my bed and hit the gym straigtht away.

That might be a deal breaker all right.

It could be said to have become a 'victim of its own success' in this way.

That looks very good. I know the building, but I never knew a gym existed there.

I may very well go up and take a look later on, as one-to-one advice is the main thing I need. Thanks.

good plan its a nice little gym as the other guy said! and the guy that ran it when i trained there the odd time was really sound! his names rob! yeah i think cause ben dunnes is so cheap its a victim of its own success considering the other local gym in sandyford is west wood and lets say there not cheap :)

Booked an appointment with BHAF for Friday evening. Seems like a nice small outfit with attentive staff.

    Thanks for the help everyone.
