    Hi all,

I'm ordering some supplies to do a bit of bike maintenance next weekend. Would appreciate of any of you can help me out!

    Some questions:

Is teflon-based spray lube the same as wet lube?

Is the wet-lube thicker - grease-like in consistency?

Do many of you use both?

    Any recommendations?

Edit: Suggestions for a degreaser as well? (For cassette and derailleur)

I use Finish Line Wet Lube when it's wet and their Dry Lube when it's dry. I use a dripper for both - makes it easier to get the stuff where I want it and keep it away from where I don't want it.

Wet lube is for wet conditions: it has a thicker consistency and is more tenacious. It won't wash off as easily but more stuff will stick to it. Dry lube is for dry conditions: it won't pick up contmainants but it will wash off in the wet.

I use finish line dry lube for everything except my commuting POS. I wouldn't let wet lube near my road bike for love nor money

    Why?

Too heavy. Attracts lots of dust from the road. When you have to clean the chain, it's covered in crap making the job twice as hard. I'd prefer to have to apply the dry lube more frequently than have to do that.

Well, I wouldn't put anything but (this) wet lube on my bike. And my chain is very clean. As clean as I like it anyway. I do take care though not to put lube outside the chain, where dust gets attracted. Sure it means careful and tedious application, but that's a price I'm happy to pay for having to lube only every two months or so on my daily commuter bike. Plus the smoothness and quietness you get simply can't be matched by any dry lube.

But that's a school of thought.

Is the problem with dirt sticking clumping on the chain more to do with the actual application? If you're super careful with it and applied it on the rollers on the inside, it wouldn't be so bad, right?
