    Hi
Got the new triax 114. Some problems with recording. It's recording some and not others. When watching program and recording is due to the start .. A message comes up ... Re speed .... "do you want to record " ... Yes or no ... Why is this ???

This error means your hard drive or memory stick is not recommended and may or may not work. It seems as if in your case it may not.

Besides capacity (in GB), hard drives have a write speed. If the write speed of the drive is too slow it cannot record the information fast enough. Cheaper drives especially cheap high capacity drives may have limited write speed. This is most noticeable when recording high definition channels with lots of movement.

If you have access to other drives try formatting them using the box and see if the error dissapears and if the recording now works.

If considering buying a new drive then get one with an external power supply (a wall adapter) and at least 500GB capacity. I suggest you source one via an Irish Satellite supplier who has tested it works 100% with your make of box or from a recommendation of another 114 user.

Thanks so much for the informative reply. I have indeed a 18. Or so gb USB drive in presently box is in attic ...I have a socket beside the box as it happens so I will do this in the next few days... That's that sorted! One other thing I wondered tho is to know when something is actually recording. I believe you can see the lights flash intermittently in the box to know , but I can't do that as its in the attic. Is there any other way to know. For example the missus was watching rte in saorview and taping one of her soaps on tv3 . I didn't think you could do that , I thought that if you recorded in free to air you could watch Irish saorview and other way round ... Basically can you tell if something is recording without looking at box and if so , how .... Many thanks

It's not a real PVR, only a "recording feature"

    yes watty your correct!
I look at it the same as the sky plus box really , except the internal drive if you like , is the sky plus box physcially , and just sitting on top on the triasx 114 boix!!

Is it just about the same then!?
    Cheers

Minder ps any idea of my quyery above , re recording! Thks

I got this box as well...so far so good, the only bug bear of mine is that when you do a blind scan and tune in your 300 odd channels...to delete each channel you have to select each channel individually and enter the password every time, channel by channel, or does anyone else know how I can delete a block of channels in one go like I could do in the earlier boxes?

There is a whole thread on this box here:

In particular the offer of a channel list here:

    And another here:

Would you know if this is a fault oin triax 114?
You set record on rte 1 for example ,a program on the EPG. IT is confirmed on the timer menu.
You then watch BBC for example. When the recording commences the box changes from the channel in this case bbc to the channel that is just about to record. The box does this of its own accord.

You have to try and get back to bbc , all the time missing bits of the program (bbc) that you had been watching, This seems rediculous.
    Advice appreciated

Please don't post the same issue on multiple threads. There is one TSC-114 thread for all users to discuss issues and fixes.
