I have a very new batch of Sussex Ponte just coming into lay now and the first 2 eggs so far have been laid as far as possible from my nice, warm, dry, cosy, nest boxes. That'll be out on the grass in the pouring rain, then ladies! Thanks! Does anyone know how you persuade them to lay in 'the right place', or does it just sink in eventually, with experience.

    Matt

Put an old golf ball in each of the nest boxes and keep them in for a few hours longer in the mornings until they get the hang of where you want them to lay
