my Toyota Avensis 2000 Saloon car has been playing up last few days, i could hear a clinking sound and when i was taking of every so often there was like a small back fire noise, if i was in to high a gear she would really stutter,

this was particulary obviously if i was in a road were there was quite a lot of ramps near each other

i got the exhaust checked he said there was nothing wrong with it had full comporession

but what he did notice was that an arm had come out of this i think its vacumn maybe someone here can tell me or advise what might it be

i have since had the arm put back in and its driving certainly better but not sure if i need a new one of these

    i enclose the pictures:

The clicking sounds like it might one of the CV joints. Did you notice the noise when setting off and turning at the same time?

When i took off i heard it also like a back fire , when im in a low gear it stutters ,

i find im giving it more power

    didnt notice anything turning

today i noticed it a bit more noisier when i put my foot in accelarator ??

This si the same car thats timing belt broke

could be missfire on full load ? Might timing belt not set right, or coilpack on the way out. tbh, cant get clue from your description.

is there problem only when foot down on accelerator ?

is that sound going from engine or it is mechanical sound. if it is mechanical sound, than on full load, could be gearbox or other bush worn .

    ok let me start again

when i take of sometimes i get the misfire

if i am going up a hill i find 2nd gear needs more accelration and wants more 1st gear

but it is more noticable as i drop speed u hear the back fire not loud now but small stutter

i know its not the exhaust etc as i got it checked

you mean it is go like small " bang, bang bang" or so .. in exhaust ?? If so, than fuel not burned properly, unburned fuel travels through exhaust, and get burned in exhaust,as exhaust is very hot....... check coilpacks, sparkplug leads and sparkplugs, then check is all timing marks right. i have avensis 1.8 petrol, havent had such thing, i have just experience from other cars.

its like a small bang taken off , it is very problematic if its in to high a gear

if i didnt no better i was sure it was the exhaust but got that checked

is it possible its Piston slack ???

As i said, could be unburned fuel goes through exhaust.... caused by overfueling. have you checked your car for emissions ? wouldn't say it is piston slack . any chance get video of that ? i cant imagine.
