I bought one of his albums for about €3 in a shop in Germany out of curiosity, it's actually not bad, mosty battle raps but starts focusing too much on his appearance. Has some interesting features like Chino XL, Juice and Mac Lethal (add Mac Lethal to above list :)) and they all fit well together.
But, I wouldnt be going ot intentionally looking for any new stuff. I dont think the content would change that much from the album I have already.
So i guess it's pretty middle of the road stuff, not bad, not good and does what it says on the tin.

I might check it out even if just for curiosity and the 3 above mentioned guest rappers.

If you havent heard Chino Xl - Here To Save You All, you should drop everything you are doing right now and get a hold of it. One of the finest albums for wordplay and 'dissing' rappers you'll hear.

No I have heard most of his stuff, when I was well into west coast stuff *.

    * still am and he is from Jersey which is odd but he repped the west.

I haven't heard much/any of Mac Lethal or Juices music but know a lot of their free-styling and battle stuff.

A few of my recent favourites :D

George Watsky(you might wanna skip the first 40 seconds)

Asher Roth and the guys from Pacific Division are good(Asher at 02:50)

Hodgy Beats and everybody else from OFWGKTA. This song is the best to introduce you to them as a group. Try to listen to it all even though there are one or two jokers on it who aren't really rapper :D

Prepare for Conor's wrath. I'm expecting a comment along the lines of "don't bother listening to any of it. There are no proper rappers on it at all" :pac:.

I thought i was bad with all the stick i give the young money clique but conor has serious hatred for OFWGTA or whatever the fúck they're called :D

    hahah

Was about to reply - only one or 2 jokers who aren't rappers, surely they all are. I usually don't hate artists I don't like but OF just suck majorly.

YM are not that bad, not my cup of tea but not that bad. OF are bad and cocky and their fans thinks they are the best rappers ever which is why I hate them and they are pretty much the only rappers I hate (musically, although they are way to cocky for the skill they have).

Im a big fan of OF but Tyga from YM is good in my opinion. The OF guys definitely are not the best rappers by far but I really do love Tyler, Hodgy, Mike G and Earl :P Being so young and all I think they have huge potential to grow up later and become *civilized* a bit, but I love them the way they are... Not to sound like one of those defensive fans but Hodgy Beat's and Mike G's stuff outside of OF are actually "decent" :p I can understand why most people hate them though, just watch that BBC report about them to see why  What rappers do you like Conor?:)

Most people skip by Frank Ocean and The Internet and they really miss out on some great songs, especially the Internet. Syd tha Kid and Matt Martians are really good producers

I won't de-rail the thread anymore, I just really really don't like OF both musically and their personalities (the ones they show in interviews and on stage etc) and the amount of support and press they get is completely out of sync with their talent imo.

To try to stay on topic knocksteadytv on YouTube is worth a look for showcasing some nice new or little known rappers. Again, a good few are sorta OF-esque :P But most have very unique flows and styles. Hopsin might be worth checking out too, I think some of his songs are similar to Eminem, maybe not.

    *edit*
You might like this, nothing like OF at all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭conor.hogan.2

Dumbfoundead (video above) co-founded Knocksteady afaik, liking some of what I see from them.

    Most white rappers are horrendous.

There are some fantastic ones though. Sims and Koncept are the best that I've come across in the last while. Both of their albums are better than the vast majority of stuff being released by "black" rappers.

    Most white rappers are horrendous.

That is such a stupidly closed minded thing to say.
    Never heard of Eyedea?
    B. Dolan?
    Sage Francis?
The rest of Strange Famous Records?

I could go on and on.
    White rappers are INCREDIBLE.

Eyedea got called a crap emo who probably lives in his moms basement on this forum before so he doesn't get a lot of love (I am paraphrasing but that was the gist)

But Sage Famous and rhymesayers are pretty much universally amazing.

Plus Shapey being a white rapper, I am hoping he was joking.

Atmosphere, Aesop, Milkbone, Everlast, Eminem. All quality acts, there is a lot of bad white rappers but the good ones outweigh the bad ones by quality over quantity.

Also the white rappers outside of conventional rap, like Mike Shinoda and the guys from Hollywood Undead

I'm crap that goes without saying I just mess about at it a bit as a hobby. I said most not all. I have a couple of favourites but I'd probably pick different rappers to highlight than you lot would. I'm talking more about all these absolute abominations that are youtube stars at the moment: Macklemore, Machine Gun Kelly, White Girl Mob and Mac Miller make me want to puncture my ear drums in a way 2 Chainz never could. There are about 20 more really popular ones I can't be arsed hunting down had a check up on a few I got results on here and they were so bad I couldn't get through 30 seconds http://www.complex.com/music/2012/06/infographic-the-complex-guide-to-picking-your-new-favorite-white-rapper. I'm usually facinated by how bad things can be but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Masta Ace - Em bit his flow
    Wordsworth
    Pumpkinhead
    Mic Geronimo
    Qwel
    Siah & Yeshua DapoED
One Be Lo - best rapper ever imo
    Buff1
    Fashawn
    Blu
    Memphis Reigns
    J-Live
    Percee P
