Apologies if this has been discussed before but I was wondering what would
A full set of pads and rotors front and back cost ? Including labour and VAT
The car is a 2000 Audi A4 1.8 . I think the back wheel bearings are sunk into the rotors ,
If this has any bearing .

Friend of mine has just paid 50Euro in labour for those(2004 A4, 1.8T), i paid about the same for discs/pads all round...Recommend online/discount shops to source parts, and you will find yourself lucky. The ongoing rate in garages may be above that, but anything above100E will be a steal really.

Sorry, 80E for two axles brake discs/pads - fair price anyway, and as i did it meself before, worth it really.

The above prices have no relevance to what you'd pay in a garage.

For good quality pads and disks supplied and fitted to the front axle you'd be looking at approx €200 in an independent garage.

As for the rears, is your's a Quattro?

As far as I can remember, your model should have standard rear disks(without the bearings) so you'd be looking at a little less then the fronts, approx €170-€180.

Nope, Renault did put wheeel bearing/abs rings in one unit to save money???

I was only quoting some units prices, without fitting prices. I wanted to highlight that if you had someone to fit those, it could bring the price down a lot...You know - if you compare your prices against main dealer, you will be found cheaper, with quality job provided...

Your not quoting retail prices though, quoting trade prices and mates rates doesn't help someone who wants to bring their car to a garage.

My quotes are not out of the space tbh, they are there to give some picture.... Own parts included anyway, i was there to highlight labour cost, 80E - very cheap, main dealer prices - very expensive,
I am not here to say it is cheap to fix, or anything like this...

The pre 2001 A4 rear brake discs do contain the wheel bearings and also have separate abs rings as well. Sometimes the abs rings come off the old discs without breaking, sometimes they don't. So for the rear you need discs, pads, bearings and abs rings. The labour time is also pretty high compared to a conventional setup as on the post 2001 A4 so overall it is quite an expensive job.

Anyone running a legitimate business couldn't make a living only charging €80 for changing front and rear discs and pads on one of these cars. €80 on the newer shape A4 is more realistic if still a little bit on the cheap side.

Fair enough, had no idea about abs rings and bearings on those models, friends a4 is 2002, so it had to be a bit cheaper. Mine had abs rings/wheel bearing included as a brake disc, so apart from the disc, there was no extra work involved...
I have no interest in bringing your prices down, or even negotiating them...ND and George - you definitely know what you are doing, and i did not take into account discs/pads brand that some people may want.
The prices you quoted are more down to earth prices, mine were, like ND said - mate prices. Not every one of us can get them...
