I get them as well but usually go away if I change hand positions. What kind of handle bars to you have?

Get a bike fit, my housemate had both of these, got a bike fit the same day as me and hasn't felt them since.

Also work on keeping your elbows bent. Straight arms transmit more road shock to the shoulders and put more pressure on your hands.

+1 on getting a bike fit done.

I had pain in between my shoulder blades, sore hands etc and the bike fit has done wonders. Before I had the bike fit done I actually couldnt leave my hands in any one position for more than a couple of minutes. Now I can have them on the hoods for as long as I like. However then started to get pins and needles in the tip of my pinky finger. Talking to James who did my bike fit and looking at how i now hold my hands while on the hoods, i needed to rotate my wrists outwards as I had them too flat which was causing compression on a nerve. Tried it today and no problems with pins & needles, however i need to work on keeping my hands in that position as it doesn't feel natural yet.

Bike fit sounds like it would help especially if you're getting neck/shoulder pain.

Treat it with caution and don't ignore it as you can do damage to the nerve if you just put up with it. I've a mate who suffered numbness/tingles constantly for a year in his little finger on one hand after ignoring it.

Anyone know a good bike fitter in the Limerick / Clare / Tipp area. Will prob get one done in the near future and am based in Limerick. Don't fancy dragging the bike too far to get a fit done!

I recommend James O'Donnel in Oranmore if you don't mind travelling that far (which really isn't that far!)

TriBikes in Raheen can do a bike fit as well.

You probably have too much weight on your hands - is your saddle tilted forward? Could be solved with a bike fit or perhaps you need to build core stregenth?

Mod note - no attempts to offer diagnosis for possible underlying complaints - this is in effect medical advice which is not permitted on Boards

Keep it to a discussion of hand positions, bike fit and the like
